Unlike a licensed law firm or lawyer you seek advice and counsel from, these companies act as if they can give the same educated and quality of advice as a law firm. They cannot, period.
What is even more disturbing is they flat out LIE to you, telling you “a lawyer cannot help you, that they have to go by the contract”, this is so not true, its insulting. A highly trained attorney quickly assimilates your situation and begins a negotiation strategy on your behalf.
You may not know, however, in nearly ALL legal disputes, most settle through skilled negotiations of legally licensed professionals. In fact, less than 2% of these matters ever see a courtroom.
Here is the bottom line, most of these companies were founded by sales people for the timeshare companies and know clearly how deceived you were in their presentation. There is another scenario of how they are soliciting you, they WORKED for an advocacy company and saw the huge profits they make and decided to start their own business doing the same thing, TRUE!
Most charge the same as a licensed law firm; huge difference is they cannot file a lawsuit if necessary. Not only that, YOU send ALL correspondence!
That’s right, not even on their letterhead, in fact, you cannot tell the timeshare company you even hired them. These are DIY (Do It Yourself) letters and because the letters are from you and not an attorney they never reach the legal department.
So now, whatever transpired is being reviewed by the people and departments that made a commission on you; how motivated are they going to be to cancel your contract and have a charge back to their commissions? They’re not. What is really dangerous is if you speak with them during the rescission period instead of utilizing an attorney. They will purposely stall and evade dealing with the cancellation until the rescission period expires and then it becomes extremely difficult and costly to get out of your contract.
Remember, the timeshare industry is inundated with scams. Your safest bet with any timeshare matter is to utilize a licensed law firm or attorney to handle your situation.
